This was an election between the former government of John Howard and the former leader of the opposition Kevin Rudd. John Howard lost the election and has resigned as Prime Minister. He has lost his seat of the Division of Bennelong in Sydney. Kevin Rudd is now Prime Minister. He became Prime Minister on December 3 2007.
