Evo Morales won the presidential elections in Bolivia with an absolute majority, at the head of the Movement Towards Socialism (Movimiento al Socialismo, MAS). With a program that is already old in Latin America, Morales nationalized bolivian hydrocarbons and called for a Consitutional Assembly. This program is not at all socialist, it is burgeois nationalist. As a neocolonial country, these policies are well oriented to defend the country from imperialist rapaciousness. However, they are not part of the program of a party that can honestly call itself socialist in the classical sense of the term. The economic independence of Bolivia includes demands typical of a democratic revolution, like the French Revolution. However, Bolivia, and many other countries called neocolonial, have evolved in an uneven way, advanced in some aspects, when compared to revolutionary France, but behind in others, in such a way that after decades, the bolivian people have not yet satisfied their democratic demands. The Russian Revolution of last century proved Trotsky's Theory of Permanent Revolution, that states that these neocolonial countries will advance towards socialism by means of proletarian revolution, bypassing the democratic revolution. Like Allende's reforms in Chile, Evo Morales' will not go very far, unless a Leninist party directs the bolivian workers' discontent towards a true Workers Revolution. --RedRoseSpartakus 19:06, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

--RosaRojaEspartaco 19:01, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
