Campaigns Wikia:Single Point of View

From Campaigns Wikia

This is an official policy of Campaigns Wikia as voted upon by the community.

Single Point of View (1POV) is a statement on a Campaigns Wikia page that can be used to identify articles that are written from a specific point of view and asks that people refrain from editing that page in ways that oppose or detract from the thesis. By stating that a page is 1POV and linking to alternative 1POV and related NPOV pages, we encourage the creation of such pages if they do not exist, which promotes the principle of APOV. According to the APOV policy, links to alternatives, even if they do not yet exist and are "red links", are required on 1POV pages, and may not be deleted. These requirements are met by using the 1POV template.

Instead of attempting to balance opposing viewpoints in one page, which can get unwieldy, 1POV allows for dynamic essays and soapbox articles that allow people to express their opinions without fear of those opinions being mocked. 1POV also encourages detractors to comment on the associated talk page or creating their own dynamic essay presenting an alternative thesis. These alternative articles should link back to the original, but should be written independently of it, while critiques of the article itself are placed in the associated talk page.

1POV articles are not exempt from the rules of Campaigns Wikia, including those relating to slander.

Violations of the 1POV policy may result in an edit war, which will be dealt with in accordance with the three-revert rule.
