To simplify the tax code a flat tax with flat deduction is proposed. RATE and DEDUCTION would be the same for everyone and set by United States Congress on an annual basis.
tax = (income*RATE) - (DEDUCTION*family_members)
if(tax<0), tax=0
For each fiscal year Congress could start out by setting an inflation target, then voting on how large the deduction per family member should be.
