Forum:Collaboration with Issuepedia & Appropedia
From Campaigns Wikia
I haven't been exactly sure what the scope is for Campaigns Wikia. But I think it's getting clearer, and now would be a good time to think about how it relates to other wikis.
Issuepedia has just appeared on my radar - it's an attempt to compile information and perspectives on issues, rather than specifically campaigns.
Less closely related, but probably of interest to many people here, is Appropedia, the wiki site for appropriate technology, sustainability and international development.
Appropedia is for technical stuff (and softer aspects of development, technology, sustainability etc) - of course campaigning and analysis of issuse are important too, and I see each having its place.
I'm keen to see collaboration between these wikis as much as possible, and want to make sure we link to each other and transwiki where appropriate.
Issuepedia and Campaigns are now linked from Appropedia's WikiNode - perhaps similar links could be placed here? (Not sure where...). --Singkong2005 09:50, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure how the WikiNode system works. I think links to and from WikiIndex.org would be more effective. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to integrate the cross-linking between different wiki sites around the web. We're just getting started.
- Linking to WikiIndex is good. Still, a WikiNode (basically a page of links) is useful, even if it only has links to relevant categories on WikiIndex, e.g. Political. --Singkong2005 11:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- I would love to see Issues moved to Issuepedia. They've been a headache since we started because they pretty much do nothing more than polarize the people who are trying to contribute to our campaigns resources. Chadlupkes 17:20, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hopefully with people of goodwill, wiki software and wiki etiquette, it will be possible to do something positive, rather than polarize people. However, I agree that this is not to place to conduct that experiment. --Singkong2005 11:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
