You know, it's a little strange to me, but so far I've contacted my representative, both senators, and my favorite candidate for governor talking about this idea and how interesting it is and how they should at least take a look. I've gotten a grand total of one auto-response, which has now put me on a mailing list. What's the deal? Should I try to find smaller politicians and just blanket contact everyone who I can vote for (or against) to try to find people who are interested in this? What are other people doing? Share and enjoy!

- I think it will be much more effective if we start at the local levels first. City Council and other local offices. Get new candidates used to the idea now, and they will continue to use it as they run for higher offices. Of course, this means we're going to have to lay the foundation for them first. - I'd suggest focusing on challengers as well as local level pols. Challengers have less to lose and have the need to reach more people. Incumbents, on the other hand, are focusing on protecting something they already have. They do that by trying not to have a race at all and playing defense until they are forced to participate. Long term strategy for you guys, I'd say, is to target challengers who seem to have a shot at making it and people starting out in their first race who are likely to run again and will get used to using the site for all their campaigns. The hardest to get are incumbents- much easier to get the challenger and then the incumbent will follow.Vive42 16:16, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I wonder, on reflection, if it would be a useful thing to catalog Campaign Wikia-related correspondance with politicians here on the wiki? Maybe as part of a Contact Politicians project or something? To see who has been contacted and what, if any, response they have provided? I think maybe I will create a page like this and see if people are interested in it -- Munchtipq 15:37, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
