Phil Angelides is the current treasurer of California and is running for governor on the Democratic ticket. He is facing oppostion from many Californians. He said he would raise $10 billion by rasing taxes for just about everything which is projected to make California lose business because of the higher taxes. On June 6, 2006, Angelides won against his Democratic oppenent Steve Westly, which had 43.2% of the vote when Angelides got 48%. If Angelides doesn't win this race he will be out of Treasurer postition because his re-election is this year too.
